Sarah Malis, LMSW

ASSOCIATE THERAPIST

Sarah Malis is a licensed social worker providing counseling services in the greater New York area. Sarah earned her masters degree from Fordham University. Her mission is to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. Her approach is attentive, open-minded, and genuine, as she is deeply committed to helping her clients find healing and achieve a deeper understanding of themselves.

Sarah has experience working with individuals across the lifespan and specializes in addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, career coaching, and workplace relationships. She also has a passion for supporting clients in exploring their sexual and/or gender identities.

Sarah honed in on this passion as an intern at Callen-Lorde, a Community Health Center, where she provided comprehensive mental health support and care coordination, specializing in gender-affirming services and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care. As part of the Transgender Counseling and Education team, Sarah supported clients navigating hormone therapy and wrote surgery support and consult letters for those seeking gender-affirming care.

Additionally, Sarah has interned and volunteered at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center, where she supported LGBTQ+ young adults and further deepened her understanding of the unique challenges faced by this population. She has participated in numerous workshops and training to enhance her skills in providing mental health care for TGNC individuals.

Sarah orients her practice through a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and disability-justice lens. She combines a variety of approaches including psychodynamic, ACT, CBT, and DBT. Sarah partners with her clients to cultivate their therapeutic goals, foster personal authenticity, and make meaningful changes in their lives.
